THE VARIED SHADES OF CDFI SMALL BUSINESS FUNDING

CDFI business financing options range from matched savings accounts to microloans, commercial business loans, SBA loans, lines of credit, commercial real estate loans, debt refinancing, business credit cards, and other specialized loans, to equity-based investment capital. Which financing products an individual CDFI provides depends, in part, on whether the CDFI is a community development bank, a community development corporation, a community development credit union, a community development venture fund, or a community development microenterprise fund.

The eligibility requirements as well as the financeable uses, financed amounts, interest rates or equity share, terms, fees, and other features of a CDFI financial product are determined by the individual CDFI. So, too, are the educational and technical services offered by a CDFI (or a partnering organization) as well as whether those resources are provided at no cost or low cost.

The following profiles of a few different types of CDFIs will give you an idea of the variety of business funding opportunities offered by community development financial institutions.
